How to Make a Digital Mood Board on Material Bank

If you’ve ever tried to convey a design idea to a prospective client or coworker, you know the importance of having a quality mood board. But sometimes, pulling together this type of visual presentation can be tedious or time-consuming.

How to Create Your Digital Mood Board
To better understand how it works (and how awesome it is), we’re going to walk you through creating a digital mood board. Follow the steps below to get started!
Getting Started
To create a mood board, you need to either select or create a Project for that board.
Select that project from your home page menu.
From there, click on Boards under Project Resources. You'll then be prompted to create a new mood board!

All boards are automatically saved to your Material Bank account.
Enter your Board name and Project name and hit create!
Search Thousands of Sample Materials
Now it’s time for the fun stuff—browsing sample materials!
The great thing about this mood board builder is that you can browse Material Bank’s myriad of materials, upload your own images, or import images from Pinterest directly to your board!
To add products from Material Bank, you can use the regular search bar at the top of each page.
Once you find a product you like, simply hover over the listing and click Add to Board!
You can continue browsing all of Material Banks products and adding them to your board until you have everything you need!
Add Other Images Easily
Maybe you have a favorite Pin or a personal design file that you want to incorporate into your mood board. Not to worry! Material Bank has you covered.
On the board Overview page, click the plus sign and select between uploading from your computer or importing from Pinterest.
Note that you must connect your Pinterest account to Material Bank in order to import pins.
From there, it is an easy process to bring those pictures into Material Bank!
Build your Mood Board
Alright, so now you have found the materials and images you want to use for your digital mood board. What’s next? It’s time to customize your vision!
Navigate back to your board's page and select the Mood Board tab.
To add the materials, click the picture icon on the toolbar and select which ones you want to include.

Design your Mood Board
Once you have added everything to the mood board, this part of the process is all about creativity! Experiment with your samples until you find the look that’s just right for your digital mood board.
You can move them by clicking and dragging anywhere on the canvas. You can also double click on any of the samples to resize or rotate!
Tools and Tricks
Click through the tool bar on your mood board canvas to discover more editing options! Add some text, or insert comments to remind yourself of ideas later on. Decide you want to start over? Click the eraser icon to clear your canvas completely!
Another fun tool is the Background remover. This works great for hardware images.
First, choose the Magic Wand from the tool bar.
Then, click on the image you want to edit and the wand will work it's magic! Here, we used a faucet as an example:
You can also right click on any of your samples to see more options, including tiling a pattern, adding a dropshadow, and changing the layers.
Add a Background
You have the option to change the color of your background in the Mood Board builder.
Simply choose the Color Wheel on the toolbar and play around with the options until you find something you like!
Settings
If you select the Setting icon on the top right of your canvas, there are a few other customization tools here.
You can toggle a grid to your canvas, which will make it simple to align different samples together. If you want to include the product details for each sample, you can toggle that on here as well!
Share Your Digital Mood Board
So, you’ve put the finishing touches on your digital mood board, and you’re ready to share your creation with the world. Simply click the Download button in the top right corner, and select what format you want to save the file as!

Loving your final look? You can order samples directly from your Project Board! Any samples ordered will be delivered to you next day, at no cost.
At the top of the screen, go back to the Overview tab. There is an option to order all samples on the top right-hand side. If you only want certain ones, you can select them by clicking the check-box on each one and then clicking the Order Samples button!
