How much tile do I need?

Let’s do the math!

Step 1: Get your Measurements

Start by measuring the length and width of the surface you're tiling — whether it’s a wall, floor, backsplash, or niche. If tiling multiple areas, measure each one and add them together for a total.

Multiply the height/length by the width to get your total square footage.

  • Example: Area is 10 ft × 12 ft = 120 sq ft

Step 2: Know Your Tile Size

You're using 12" × 12" tile, which equals 1 square foot per tile.

  • 1 tile = 1 sq ft

Step 3: How Many Tiles Do I Need?

Divide your total square footage by the size of one tile:

  • 120 sq ft ÷ 1 sq ft/tile = 120 tiles

LIVDEN tiles are sold by the box — and each box contains 8 tiles.

So, divide your tile count by 8 to determine how many boxes you’ll need:

  • 120 tiles ÷ 8 tiles/box = 15 boxes

Step 4: Add some Wiggle Room

To account for cuts and breakage, we recommend ordering a little extra:

  • 10% buffer: 120 tiles × 1.1 = 132 tiles → 17 boxes
  • 20% buffer: 120 tiles × 1.2 = 144 tiles → 18 boxes

Round up to the nearest full box to be safe.

We know how easy it is to fill up a shopping cart, so we gave you a more budget-friendly option with our 6x6 sample size.  Our 6x6 samples are $5 per piece.  Please note, our 6x6 samples reflect the scale of a 12x12 and will only have 1/4th of the pattern on the tile.

12x12 SAMPLES:
If you want to see the full pattern and scale on one of our tiles, we recommend ordering a sample in the 12x12 size.  This will help you visualize the true scale and size of our tile in a space.

The 12x12 tiles come as 8 pieces per box and makes up 1 piece per square foot.

We recommend ordering 10% more than what is needed.

Sizing is nominal. Exact sizing is as follows:
- Polar Ice Terrazzo Tiles: 11.75”

- Chunky Terrazzo: 11.81"

- Ivory Porcelain: 11.62"
