How much wallpaper do I need?

Let’s do the math!

Step 1: Get your Stats

Measure the tallest and widest points of your wall. Doing multiple walls? Measure the width of each wall and combine those measurements together. No need to subtract any sloped areas, windows, doors, or other obstacles; they’ll be cut out during installation.   

Multiply those together to get your total square footage. Example: Your wall is 10 ft tall x12 ft wide = 120 sq ft

Step 2: Understand Linear Yards (it’s easier than it sounds!)

1 linear yard is 36 inches, or 3 feet, in length.

Our rolls come in 2 widths, so coverage per linear yard looks like this:

  • 24” (2 feet) roll: 3 ft (length) x 2 ft (width) = 6 sq ft per linear yard
  • 48” (4 feet) roll: 3 ft x 4 ft = 12 sq ft per linear yard

Step 3: Quick Math

Now divide your total wall area by the square footage per linear yard. So, for a 120 sq ft wall:

  • Using a 24” roll: 120 ÷ 6 = 20 yards
  • Using a 48” roll: 120 ÷ 12 = 10 yards

You’re basically a math magician now.

Step 4: Add some Wiggle Room

Because patterns need to line up and sometimes mistakes are made, we suggest adding 10-20% extra to your order.

  • For 10% buffer: multiply your yardage by 1.1
  • For 20% buffer: multiply your yardage by 1.2

We strongly encourage getting a sample before placing a full order! Every screen displays color differently, so samples help you see the true color, pattern, and scale in your own space before committing.

To reduce waste, all wallpaper is sold by the linear yard (minimum 5 yards), and offered in 2 width options to fit your vision:
25" (trimmed to 24")
49" (trimmed to 48")

All orders ship straight from our Southern California studio via FedEx Ground, packed with love.

Because each wallpaper is custom printed just for you, we can’t accept returns or exchanges. We always suggest sampling first to make sure you’re in true design love.

If something isn't perfect, don't stress; we've got your back. Every roll is carefully inspected before leaving our studio. In the rare case of a production defect, contact hello@livden.com within 14 days of receiving your order, and we’ll make it right.
Items must be unused, uninstalled, and in original condition.
